Does the Bible Teach a Literal Millennium?

Word RTF

Question:  Please clarify what you believe about the last days. Do you take a pre-millennial stand, claiming that the last days are yet to come? That there is a time period yet to come, this thousand years, where all these things will take place? Or do you believe that we are now in the thousand years, ever since the resurrection of Christ? Your Three false doctrines (Peter #27) was quite interesting, but if I use it in a class, I need to know your spin on this. God Bless

Response:

Blessed and holy are those who share in the first resurrection. The second death has no power over them, but they will be priests of God and of Christ and will reign with him for a thousand years.
Revelation 20:6  NIV

The Bible clearly teaches a millennial kingdom to follow Christ's literal return at the second advent. The 1,000 years part is in Rev.20, but the kingdom part can be found throughout the Old Testament and in virtually every book of the New. Given the terrible state of the devil's world in which we live, one would have to have a pretty thick pair of rose-colored glasses to think we are living in the new Eden.
